Taco Town

By Tara Roberts

When you’re hungry, really hungry, and only have a few crumpled bills in your pocket, one of the best deals in town can be found at Taco Town. With three convenient locations, Taco Town is a great deal in several towns.

  1. Niceville - 113 Partin Drive, (850) 729-8646
  2. Fort Walton Beach – 303 Racetrack Road, NW, (850) 862-8541
  3. Mary Esther – 461 Ranger Road, (850) 581-2007
Voted one of the top three local fast food restaurants by visitors to the Emerald Coast Dining Guide, Taco Town serves fresh, homemade Mexican entrees at a remarkably cost effective price.

Whether you want a single a la carte taco or burrito, or a dinner, complete with salad, refried beans and crisp tortilla chips, almost the entire menu of items is under $5 – and each portion is huge!

Choose between beef, chicken, bean or combination tacos, burritos, enchiladas, nachos, or chalupas. There is also a nice selection of salads including the popular Taco Salad, along with a Guacamole Salad, a Senora Salad topped with homemade avocado dressing, and a Salad Burrito – a smothered burrito topped with a Senora Salad. All the salads are served with corn chips. Beef or chicken can be added to the Senora Salad for a little extra.

You can get your tacos and burritos “maxi”-ed with tomatoes and sour cream, or if you’re really bold, get them “smothered” with chili and cheese sauces. All other menu items are topped with shredded cheese and lettuce.

Taco Town’s cheese, bean or guacamole dip is delicious with a basket of hot, crispy corn chips. There are even cinnamon munchies, fried flour tortillas sprinkled with cinnamon sugar, to please a sweet tooth.

Since none of the restaurants serve alcohol, they are the ideal kid-friendly environments. Kids can even order their own smaller meals that include a regular taco, chips and cheese, cinnamon munchies and a drink.

The Niceville location, near the high school on Partin Drive, is a small, take-out diner, but those who want to eat-in can slide up to the counter and enjoy a meal there. There is plenty of space in the Fort Walton Beach restaurant with tables just the right size for families and groups. The newest location is in Mary Esther, just off Highway 98 near Hurlburt Field.

The restaurants also offer daily and lunch specials featuring 45-cent tacos on Mondays and lunch combo meals for under $3 throughout the week.
