Best Barbeque on the Emerald Coast: Jim ‘N Nick’s

By Ian Smith

If you’re looking for an outstanding barbeque restaurant on the Emerald Coast, look no further than Jim ‘N Nick’s Barbeque in the Village of Baytowne Wharf in Sandestin. Barbeque is served up every way imaginable by the friendly staff at Jim ‘N Nick’s. Menu items range from pulled pork to ribs to baked potatoes stuffed with meat.

No matter what your barbeque meat craving is, Jim ‘N Nick’s can help you satisfy it. A quick glance at the menu reveals a variety of meats, all of which are slow smoked to perfection and served up fresh with a wide variety of side dishes. Patrons can choose from ribs, chicken, beef brisket, pulled pork, turkey or sausage links. Can’t decide? You can also order a two-meat combo for just a few dollars more. If you prefer your barbeque on a potato, Jim ‘N Nick’s offers loaded stuffed baked potatoes as well.

Each meal comes with a choice of two side dishes and two of Jim ‘N Nick’s famous cheese biscuits. Pick from classic southern favorites such as fresh corn on the cob, baked beans, steamed cabbage, collard greens, or French fries. Top the meal off with a huge glass of freshly brewed iced tea, and it’s hard to beat!

If you want to enjoy lighter fare, Jim ‘N Nick’s has a variety of fresh salads, sandwiches and soups. Choose from garden salads, Greek salads or chopped southern salads. Barbeque meats can be added to some of the salads too. Jim ‘N Nick’s barbeque meats come on sandwiches and come with a choice of one side dish. Soup choices include chili or Brunswick stew.

Restaurant patrons can choose to dine indoors or outside on the patio, which overlooks the bay. There is some shade on the patio as some of the tables have umbrellas. If being in the sun bothers you, then you’re probably better off inside. One piece of advice for dining inside – bring a coat because it’s usually cold!

I’ve tried almost every barbeque restaurant from Fort Walton Beach all the way east to Santa Rosa Beach, and Jim ‘N Nick’s is the best in my opinion. It’s a little more expensive than some of the others, but well worth it.

Jim ‘N Nick’s offers a discount to Sandestin residents, so if you live in Sandestin be sure to ask for it! You can also visit their drive thru restaurant in Niceville and be treated to the same menu.
